UGANDA MOUNTAINEERING TOUR
Day 1:Meet and greet at respective accommodations and then drive southwest to Mgahinga National Park via Mbarara. There will be a brief stop over at the Equator for photographs and in Mbarara for Lunch.

Day 2:Several options today for your choice
1st Option
Hiking to the top of Mount Mgahinga, which takes you through a good example of a pure bamboo forest. While mountaineering through one should watch for bushbucks and golden Monkeys. The trail up the mountainside has lots of steps and switchbacks. At the top(3474m) you will find a lush swamp inside a crater.

2nd Option
Sabinyo Gorge-This place is always wet. This walk will take you deep into Sabinyo’s lush gorge. It is moist, with thick vegetation and there is a beautiful moss-lined stream along the walk. This trail reveals the true height of Mt.Sabinyo.At the end of the gorge you find yourself looking straight up at the peaks. With the peaks above and a small waterfall at your side, the end of the gorge is a great spot for a rest. Keep your binoculars ready for this is one of the best bird watching spots in the park. Look out for the Rwenzori Turacos.Duikers and golden monkeys may be sighted.
Difficulty: Moderate though you will need boots with good traction.

3rd Option
Mount Muhavura is typically a cone shaped Volcanoe that provides some of the best views in Uganda and is reallyn ideal mountaineering spot. On a clear day you can see all the other Virunga volcanoes, Lake Edward in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi and the peaks of Rwenzori National Park! Muhavura doesn’t have the thick forests that Mgahinga and Sabinyo offer. Much of this mountaineering itenerary is a gradual incline up a rock surface covered by grasses and small shrubs. The low vegetation gives you excellent views of the area throughout the day. Once at the top (4127m) you are rewarded with fine views of Congo and Rwanda, and a clear crater lake about 36m wide. Watch out for scarlet Tufted Malachite Sunbirds among the giant lobelias.

4th Option
Mt.Sabinyo offers three challenging peaks to climb. The trail takes you up a ridge along the eastern side to the peak
1.Should you wish to continue, the climb to peak 2 involves walking a ridge with breath taking drops into gorges of Rwanda and Uganda. The hike to peak 3 is steep with several ladders and much scrambling. You are sure to get your hands dirty en-route to peak 3.Once on top of peak 3(3669m) you will be in three countries at the same time Rwanda, Congo and Uganda! The Sabinyo belt takes you three all the different vegetation belts and you have good chances of seeing golden monkeys, duicker, Rwenzori Turacoes and Sunbirds.

Day 3: Depart for Kampala via L.Bunyonyi with memories of the previous days' mountaineering experience.
Please note that all these hiking explorations are done under the guidance and advice of a specialist guide.
Always carry a pair of binoculars and camera if you want pictures and rainproof garment.
Hiking boots are recommended.
Packed lunch is carried on hikes lasting more than 1 hour.
Come along with sunscreen.

Day 2:Early morning departure for gorilla trekking. The tracking time can take three to eight hours. Gorillas are very special animals –rare, gentle, like us yet so different. Tracking them is a unique experience as it leads you into a strange land to meet unusual creatures on their own terms! This basically is a humble yet thrilling experience at the same time. The guide will lead you through the gorillas’ world, explaining the aspects of their ecology and behavior along the way.

Day 3:Depart for Kampala via Lake Bunyonyi with memories of the previous days experience.
