GORILLA TRACKING SAFARIS AND TOURS

The minimum age to indulge in Gorilla safaris is 15 years. Any one with sings of communicable disease is not allowed to trek. Please not that it I s a strenuous activity and one should be physically fit to undertake it. While possession of gorilla tracking permit cannot be guaranteed, maximum time allowed with the gorillas will not exceed an hour.
Mgahinga National Park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda
and covers 38sq Kms. It covers the Northern slopes of the three northern most Virunga volcanoes, Mt.Muhavura (4,127m), Mt.Gahinga (3,474m) and Mt.Sabinyo (3,645m). The afternoon/morning will be for a Buhoma village tourist walk, which takes up to three hours and is managed by the local community and proceeds received here are ploughed into the community to improve on their welfare. You will be introduced to a typical rural homestead, a visit to a local traditional healer, a banana beer brewing demonstration and much more. The evening will allow you to participate in captivating traditional performances presented by women and orphan groups. We venture into the forest via the Bamboo trail. The trail is located in the highest part of the park, rising to 2607 m (8560 ft) at Rwamunyonyi hill (which means “place of birds”) in the local language. It starts at the Kabale-Ruhija road in the park and winds through scenic views of the Bamboo Zone. It offers 14 vegetation types and is one of the areas of highest diversity in the park. The trail heads east to the edge of the forest at Rwamunyonyi where there is a panoramic view of Mafuga Forest reserve, L.Bunyonyi and the area around Ikumba.The walk from the road to Rwamunyonyi hill is fairly strenuous and takes about 2 to 3 hrs.
