SEMLIKI NATIONAL PARK:
The park covers an area of 220km squared and is situated within the Albertine rift. The park boarders Semuliki River to the North West and to the East is the Fort Portal-Bundibugyo road. The park protects an unspoilt lowland forest and has at least 300 species of butterflies, 46 species of swallow tails as well as 235 moth species. There are also 300 tree species recorded of which almost 30 percent occur nowhere else in East Africa.
To the bird watchers almost 400 bird species have been recorded, including a high proportion of forest birds with some species about 40 occurring no where else in Uganda.
The park has 63 species of mammals, nine species of which are diurnal forest primates and yet 11 of them occur nowhere else in Uganda including the pygmy antelope.
The park supports a chimpanzee population, where as other large mammals recorded here include the elephant, bushpig, buffalo, Sitatunga and white-bellied duiker, Hippos and crocodiles are common along the Semuliki River.
Also in the park is a cluster of hot springs at Sempaya.

Day One: Meet and greet at respective accommodation and depart for Semuliki National Park via Mubende visiting the Nakayima tree enroute. The scenery on this route is beautiful. We arrive in Fort early evening and simply relax.

Day Two: Early morning departure for Semuliki Valley National Park. Options are a trail to the hot springs through a patch of rain forest and here you are able to see red-tailed monkey, grey checked Mangabey and Black and white colobus monkeys. For the birds about Eight forest horn-bills, blue-breasted King fisher, red-rumped and yellow throated tinker bird, fraisier’s ant-thrush and honey guide greenbul will be seen. Once through with the hot springs. We visit the Mungilo waterfall, which is an excellent site for hornbillspecies

We take a walk along the Eastern boundary of the park to the Semliki River about three hours walk with a more exposure to a variety of birds, monkeys, hippos and crocodile on the river and possibly the buffaloes and Elephant. Another attraction in the park is the pygmy village at Ntandi.

Day Three: Visit Amabere ga Nyinamwiru (caves), which are situated in a hilly area, dotted with crater lakes. The Amabere formations of stalactites and stalagmites have an interesting tale (legend) attached to them. The keeper tells the story.
Depart for Kampala in the afternoon arriving in the Evening.
