Murchison falls national park

This is the largest protected area in Uganda covering 3,840 square kms. The park derives its name from the Murchison falls where the mighty river Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river. The park boasts of abundant flora and fauna to the delight of the visitor. The vegetation is characterized by savannah, riverine and woodland. Wildlife includes lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda Kobs, Chimpazees and a variety of birds-450 species identified in the park including the elusive shoebill. Accommodation in the park includes Sambiya river lodge located on the southern bank of the park, Sarova Paraa lodge on the Northbank, and Nile safari camp, located in the adjacent game reserve area. Semiliki National Park

The park covers an area of 220km squared and is situated within the Albertine rift. The park boarders Semuliki River to the North West and to the East is the Fort Portal-Bundibugyo road. The park protects an unspoilt lowland forest and has at least 300 species of butterflies, 46 species of swallow tails as well as 235 moth species. There are also 300 tree species recorded of which almost 30 percent occur nowhere else in East Africa.
To the bird watchers almost 400 bird species have been recorded, including a high proportion of forest birds with some species about 40 occurring no where else in Uganda.
The park has 63 species of mammals, nine species of which are diurnal forest primates and yet 11 of them occur nowhere else in Uganda including the pygmy antelope.
The park supports a chimpanzee population, where as other large mammals recorded here include the elephant, bushpig, buffalo, Sitatunga and white-bellied duiker, Hippos and crocodiles are common along the Semuliki River.

Trekking Elgon with us

Mount Elgon is an extinct volcano. Hiking this mountain presents you   with an opportunity to see different yet unique flora and fauna, waterfalls, caves, peaks and gorges as well as hot springs. Hiking this mountain is better during the dry months of June –August and December-March though takes place the whole year. You do not have to be experienced to climb the Mountain.

5 Days safari through lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth

Lake Mburo is one of Uganda’s smaller parks and extends over 260 kms squared of undulating landscape. Altitude here ranges from 1220m to 1828m above Sea level.20% of the park’s surface area consists of wetland habitats, the most important of these being L.Mburo.The remainder of the park mainly consists of open savannah and acacia woodland. Much as Lake Mburo doesn’t boast of the big five, it offers excellent game viewing where you will likely see many different large mammal species in a day as would be for the case in any other parks in Uganda. Species in Lake Mburo are not easily observed else where in Uganda. It is the only park in the country that supports a population of Impala, the antelope and one of the three parks where the Zebra occurs.Lake Mburo has 315 species of birds recorded .It is most likely the best place in Uganda to watch/see acacia-associated birds. The swamps have six papyrus endemics resident, which include the papyrus gonolek, blue-headed coucal, white-winged, and papyrus yellow warblers

Kidepo valley National park

Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the far Northwest of Uganda. This little visited park is one of the most exciting destinations in the country.” It harbors scenery unsurpassed in any other park in East Africa “The Park covers an area of 1.442 Km Squared and has an altitude range of between 914M and 2.750M above sea level. Dominant habitat here is the open or highly wooded Savannah, interspersed with patches of montane forest, ripavian woodland, thick miombo woodland, borassus palms and rocky koppies

Kidepo protects a variety of large mammals with 80 species recorded including 28 species found nowhere else in the country. The bird checklist stands at 465 species out of which more than 70 of the birds listed haven’t been recorded in any other park. Animals in the park include eleophants, lions, zebras, giraffe, eland, cape buffalo, bushbauck, deffassa waterbuck as well as carnivore species unique to kidepo and Karamoja region which include the bat eared fox, striped hyna, aard wolf, caracal, cheetah and hunting dog. Kibale Forest national park

Kibale National Park is excellent for Chimpanzee tracking and bird watching not mentioning the greatest variety and concentration of primates of any forest in East Africa. The 766km-squared National park is any travelers dream; it extends southwards from Fort Portal to form a contagious block in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp, the dominant vegetation type being rainforest. Kibale National Park is particularly rich in primates, with 13 species recorded, the highest total for any Ugandan Park, which include vervet, red-tailed, L’hoest’s and blue monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, red colobus, black and white tailed colobus, olive baboon and Chimpanzee.

About 325 bird species have been recorded in Kibale including four species not recorded in any other park. The Nathan’s Francolin, Cassines spine tail, blue-headed bee-eater and masked apalis are some of these birds. For bird watchers, the best bird watching spot......read more safaris
